The Compass Paper is one of the FSCE multiple-choice papers, sat alongside the Adventure Paper but drawing on a different set of subjects. Our version rehearses the same shape: timed sections, A–D answers, and no going back once a section is done.
Three timed sections
Five minutes each, sat one after the other. You cannot go back to a section once it is submitted — the same rule as the real paper.
18 multiple-choice questions
Six per section, A–D, written to test how a child applies what primary school teaches rather than what they have memorised.
The wider curriculum
The KS2 subjects beyond English and Maths that four-paper schools can draw on, each test in timed sections.
Start when you are ready
No account, no card, no email. The timer starts on the first section and the test runs exactly as it does for a subscribed child.
Sit all three sections
Fifteen minutes end to end. There is a warning at one minute left, and a short interstitial between sections.
Read the full marked report
A score for the test and for each subject, plus every question with the right answer and a written explanation. Nothing is held back.
Every test has the same shape — a Science, a Geography and a History section, five minutes each — and the set works through a range of KS2 topics, shown on each card. Test 1 is free for everyone. The rest come with every Prep4All plan — and every plan starts with a 7-day free trial.
Six questions in the Compass style, two from each subject, marked as you go. These are a taster — the free test above is the full, timed thing.
Maya is testing which brand of paper towel absorbs the most water. She pours water onto each towel and measures what is absorbed. For a fair test, which ONE thing must she keep the same each time?
Two identical plants were grown for a month. Plant A, kept on a windowsill, grew 12 cm. Plant B, kept in a dark cupboard, grew 3 cm. What is the best conclusion?
A historian wants to know what Tudor children really ate. Which source would tell her most?
A soldier’s letter home and a newspaper report describe the same battle very differently. What is the most likely reason?
A class wants to find out how busy their high street is at different times of day. What is the best method?

Yes. You can sit the whole test and read the complete marked report — score, per-subject breakdown and an explanation for every question — without an account, a card or an email address. Registering is optional and only matters if you want results saved or the rest of the set.
Every test in the set is listed on this page, each with the topics it covers. Test 1 is free for everyone. The full set is included with every Prep4All plan, and every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, so a child can sit all of them before you pay anything.
Fifteen minutes. The test is three sections of five minutes each, sat one after the other, with six multiple-choice questions in each section.
The wider curriculum: the KS2 subjects beyond English and Maths that four-paper FSCE schools can draw on from the 2026 cycle, with new tests added through the year. Test 1, the free test, covers Science, Geography and History, one section each. Questions test application rather than recall.
No. FSCE authorises no past or practice papers, and nobody can sell you one. These are original Prep4All questions written in the style and format of the Compass Paper — multiple choice, A to D, in timed sections — so a child can rehearse the pacing and the mechanics. They are for skill-building, not prediction.
It is one of the multiple-choice papers in the FSCE exam, sat alongside the Adventure Paper but with a different subject focus. Answers are shaded as ovals on a separate answer sheet, which is a mechanic worth practising in its own right.
Yes, as many times as you like. Nothing is stored between sittings unless you create an account, in which case results are saved and feed into the per-topic accuracy on My Syllabus.
