Timed multiple-choice practice tests in the answer format of the FSCE Adventure Paper: one answer from four options, marked straight away with the right answer and an explanation for every question. Sit a free test now, with no account.
Written for Year 5 and Year 6. Works on a phone, tablet or computer.
FSCE (Future Stories Community Enterprise) sets the 11+ entrance test for a growing group of grammar schools. Its test has up to four papers, which can be sat in any order: the Adventure and Compass papers are multiple choice, the Beacon Paper is answered with short written answers, and the Discovery Paper is a creative response. Each school chooses which papers it sets; see the FSCE schools and dates.
FSCE's guide for the Gloucestershire grammar schools (September 2028 entry) describes the Adventure Paper as “English and Maths, with Multiple Choice Answer options”. FSCE's general guide says its papers can draw on any KS2 subject taught up to the end of Year 5, and its FAQ for Gloucestershire parents says each paper typically lasts 45–60 minutes. There is no non-verbal reasoning. More in our FSCE 11+ exam guide.
Answers are multiple choice: shade one oval for each question. There is only one correct answer.
Every sample question in FSCE's guides has four options, A to D.
To change an answer, cross through the wrong one and shade the correct one.
Answers go on a separate answer sheet, in black biro or ballpoint pen.
A recorded voice gives every instruction, including the time allowed for each section, and warns when time is nearly up.
Wrong answers lose no marks. Time left at the end of a section can be spent on that section only.
Short, timed tests that build the skills and the pace a multiple-choice paper needs.
One answer to choose from four, the same answer format as FSCE's sample questions.
A countdown on screen, so children practise working at a steady pace. Each test shows its time limit before it starts.
A score straight away, then every question with the right answer and an explanation.
These are our practice tests. A test finished here also counts under Practice Tests, so nothing is done twice.
The free tests open without an account. The rest come with every Prep4All plan, and every plan starts with a 7-day free trial.

Good habits matter as much as knowledge on a multiple-choice paper. These are worth practising until they are automatic.
Read all four options before choosing. Two answers often look right at first; the question's exact wording decides between them.
Ruling out two wrong options turns a guess into a choice between two, and makes checking quicker.
Wrong answers lose no marks, so a sensible guess can only help. Mark the hard ones and come back if there is time left in the section.
Questions are worth the same, so do not let one hard question eat the time for three easier ones.
For a calculation, find your own answer first, then look for it among the options. Options are often built from common mistakes.
On the day, answers go on a separate answer sheet. Make sure the number you shade matches the question you answered.
Six multiple-choice questions, one answer from four, marked as you go. The practice tests above are the full, timed thing.
Which sentence uses the apostrophe correctly?
Which word is closest in meaning to "reluctant"?
Which word is the conjunction in this sentence? "We stayed indoors because it was raining."
A bus leaves at 08:45 and the journey takes 1 hour 25 minutes. At what time does it arrive?
What is ¾ of 48?
Which number is a multiple of both 6 and 8?
More FSCE-style questions in every format are in the free FSCE practice questions.

It is one of FSCE's multiple-choice papers: the child shades one oval for each answer, and there is only one correct answer. FSCE's guide for the Gloucestershire grammar schools describes it as English and Maths with multiple-choice answer options. FSCE's general guide says its papers can draw on any KS2 subject taught up to the end of Year 5.
Free tests in each subject can be sat with no account, card or email address, and are marked straight away with an explanation for every question. The full set comes with every Prep4All plan, and every plan starts with a 7-day free trial.
FSCE's FAQ for Gloucestershire parents says each paper typically lasts 45–60 minutes, with timed sections announced by a recorded voice. Our practice tests are shorter and each shows its time limit before it starts, so a child can fit one into a weekday.
No. FSCE authorises no past or practice papers. These are original Prep4All questions in the Adventure Paper's answer format, multiple choice with four options, for building skills and pace. They do not predict the questions on the day.
Adventure and Compass are both multiple choice, with a different subject focus: in Gloucestershire, Adventure is English and Maths and Compass can be any school subject. On the Beacon Paper there are no options: the child writes each answer into boxes.
No. The Adventure practice tests are the same practice tests as on the Practice Tests page, so a test finished in one place counts in both. FSCE children see them under the Adventure name because that is the paper they will sit.
FSCE has four papers, Adventure, Beacon, Compass and Discovery, and each school decides which it uses. Our FSCE schools and dates page lists the schools and the format each one sets. Always check the school's own admissions information for your year of entry.
Yes. Every test can be taken again, and with an account each sitting is saved so you can see the score improve.
