curriculum ceiling — nothing beyond

What is the FSCE 11+?

Future Stories Community Enterprise Ltd (FSCE) is a not-for-profit test provider created in April 2022 as a trading company of Reading School. Its mission is to make grammar-school testing accessible to all children — “regardless of their background, their primary school, or any disability” — and to remove the need for paid tutoring.

Curriculum-only content

Tests only KS2 National Curriculum content taught up to the end of Year 5 — nothing beyond.

No VR / No NVR

No standalone verbal or non-verbal reasoning — FSCE considers them unfair to assess as they are not on the KS2 curriculum.

No past papers exist

FSCE authorises no practice or past papers. The free familiarisation guides on each school’s website are the only official material.

Format changes yearly

Question types, subjects and format deliberately change every year so the test can’t be drilled.

Application, not recall

“We are interested in how you apply your learning in new situations. We will not be testing your memory.”

Age-standardised scoring

Papers are computer-marked (OMR) and age-standardised; each school sets its own qualifying standard each year.
