About Origami Workshop

Origami Workshop covers the spatial side of non-verbal reasoning: folding, folding and punching, nets and solids, and counting cubes. A round is 12 orders: two at each of four stations, then four for the Grand Lantern. When your child gets one right, the cutting mat shows it happening: the paper folds, the punch goes through, a net folds into a cube or the cubes snap into place.

A wrong answer crumples the paper into the bin, and a card explains the trap, such as a flap slid across instead of flipped, or holes added instead of doubled. Three right in a row starts a paper storm with double points. The review at the end scores each topic and explains every trap. Origami Workshop is part of the full 11+ Arcade, included in every Prep4All plan.

How to play Origami Workshop

  1. Choose a starting level: Beginner (easy), Crafter (medium) or Expert (hard).
  2. Press Open the workshop, or switch on Daily challenge first to play today’s puzzles at Crafter level.
  3. Read each order and tap an answer, or press keys 1 to 5.
  4. Get three right in a row for a paper storm: double points and a gold star for each order.
  5. Light the Grand Lantern at the end: four harder orders, one from each topic, where each right answer lights a tier.

What it practises for the 11+

Folding
A sheet of paper is crossed by a dotted line, the question says which part folds and which way, and your child picks the folded figure: the flap lands on top as a mirror image, and any marks on it flip too. Draw the shape on paper, fold it on the line and hold it up to a window to check. Learn the topic →
Folding and Punching
A square of paper is folded, one picture per fold, then punched, and your child picks how it looks when opened out or says how many holes there will be. Unfold the last fold first and mirror every hole across it, then try the same folds with real paper and a hole punch. Learn the topic →
Spatial Reasoning
Questions use cube nets and solids made of cubes: which symbol ends up opposite the shaded square, which net folds into a given cube, which solid is the same one turned, and how a solid looks from above, the front or the side. Cut out a cube net, draw a symbol on each face and fold it up to check. Learn the topic →
Cube Counting
Your child counts the cubes in a solid, including hidden cubes that must be there to hold up the ones above, and works out the new total when a cube is added or taken away, or how many more would make a full block. Count each column’s height and add them up, then build the solid with toy bricks to check. Learn the topic →

Paper folding, nets and cube questions are part of non-verbal reasoning, which GL Assessment, CEM, ISEB and many independent schools set; FSCE and CSSE set no reasoning papers.
