A baking contest in a striped marquee: cupcakes, bread and a showstopper cake. Every right answer weighs an ingredient, pours it into the bowl and spins the whisk.
Included in every Prep4All plan. Grand Prix is free to try first.

Bake-off turns 11+ fractions and ratio into a baking contest. A round is three bakes (cupcakes, bread and a showstopper cake), and each of the 15 recipe steps is one question. The cupcakes lean on adding and subtracting fractions, the bread on multiplying and dividing them, and the showstopper on ratio and proportion; every round covers all three topics.
Each bake ends by proofing the oven: a harder question while the oven timer ticks. Questions get harder after a streak and easier after misses, and no question runs out of time; a quick answer just earns a speed bonus. Once the showstopper is finished, the review gives a score for each topic and explains every trap that caught your child, with the working.
Questions from the game, for you to try together. Have a go before opening the answer.
Mia spends 3/10 of an hour on swimming and 2/5 of an hour on the piano. How many minutes is that altogether?
42 minutes — An hour is 60 minutes. 3/10 of an hour is 18 minutes and 2/5 of an hour is 24 minutes, so 18 + 24 = 42 minutes.
What is 1/3 of 4/5?
4/15 — "Of" means times. Tops × tops, bottoms × bottoms: 1/3 × 4/5 = 4/15.
Chloe and Mia share some marbles in the ratio 5 : 3. Chloe gets 22 more than Mia. How many marbles does Mia get?
33 — The difference is 2 parts = 22, so one part is 22 ÷ 2 = 11. Mia gets 3 × 11 = 33.
