The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL) appears in third-party lists of ISEB Pre-Test schools, but we could not verify the claim against the school’s own website — its admissions pages describe their assessment without naming the provider. It is excluded from our main directory for that reason.
(Pretest Plus only, listed under the historic name 'Leeds Grammar School'). UNVERIFIED 2026-08-31 with counter-evidence: four gsal.org.uk pages checked (entrance exam, sample papers, FAQs, how to apply) - zero hits for 'ISEB'. The school describes unnamed online assessments in maths, English, verbal and non-verbal reasoning sat AT GSAL on a single day in January of Year 6, and publishes its own sample papers - both point away from the Common Pre-Test, which is normally sat at the candidate's own school in the autumn. The report recommends dropping this row

Unverified — check with the school
How the process works for any school that uses the Common Pre-Tests — the school-specific parts (deadlines, second-stage assessments) always come from the school itself.
Register via ISEB’s Guardian Portal
Registration is free for parents. You register once on ISEB’s Guardian Portal and receive an Applicant ID to give to every senior school you apply to.
One shared sitting per academic year
Your child sits the four online adaptive tests — English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning — once in the academic year, and every ISEB school on your list accesses the same result. Results go to the schools; parents are reported not to receive the scores themselves.
Deadlines are set by the school, not ISEB
For 2026-27, ISEB’s live testing window runs from 1 September 2026 to late May 2027, but each senior school decides when the sitting must be completed.
Where the tests are sat
The tests are invigilated at approved venues — the child’s own junior or prep school, a senior school being applied to, or an approved invigilation centre in the UK or overseas.
This listing is based on third-party 11+ directories and guides, not the school’s own website, and was last checked on 31 August 2026. We don’t treat third-party lists as authoritative — the school’s own admissions pages are the source to trust.
Our free ISEB-style walkthrough mirrors the adaptive, forward-only format across English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning — a gentle first meeting with the question styles and pacing.
