Bus Stop in November

Prep4All Editorial — Original poem · For Year 4–5 · Suitable for GL, ISEB, Kent
READ THE PASSAGE

The November bus is always late. The shelter hums with quiet rain. A woman counts the coins she has; A child draws stars upon the pane.

The sodium streetlights blink awake And paint the puddles orange-pink. Somewhere, behind the closing shops, A door swings shut. The streetlamps wink.

The bus arrives, a yellow ship, Its windows warm, its engine kind. We climb aboard. The doors hiss closed. We leave November's dark behind.
